Technical Support Engineer

The Charlton Group is a select team of computer systems specialists who support a wide variety of technologies for elite businesses in the financial services and healthcare industries. As part of our team you’ll be involved in cyber security, virtualization, networking, telecommunications, disaster recovery strategies, business systems, helpdesk support, and more. Working in our collaborative environment you’ll learn about different areas of technology as well as communications, client management, and much more from our senior systems engineers.

You’ll be working directly with our clients in all aspects of their business which provides the opportunity to “wear more hats” technically, to interact with staff in all functional areas, and to develop a better, big-picture view of IT operations within a business organization. Some of our current projects include:
• VMware installation and support, VMware upgrades
• Microsoft Exchange 2013 & IBM Domino 9.x implementations
• Cybersecurity analysis, policy creation, and implementation
• Disaster recovery site design, support, project management, and annual testing
• Web Application coding
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Practice Management (PM) upgrades
• Big Data infrastructure design and installation in a mixed Windows/Linux with DB clustering

Our clients are small businesses who leverage technology to maximize productivity. They rely on us for all their technology needs. As a member of our team you’ll be working as the “go-to” person for one or two of our clients. These environments are fast-paced, dynamic, primarily Microsoft based, and range in size from 25-100+ computers with 5-15 servers. You’ll primarily be working independently with the ability to call on other team members as needed. Generally speaking the position is 75% helpdesk support and 25% everything else. In this role you will spend full days at the same clients each week in Boston and the South Shore (Avon, MA), as most require 2 or more days per week continual on-site support.

Working for the Charlton Group is rewarding and meaningful because we make a difference for our clients each day by contributing to the success of their industry-leading businesses. You can feel good that your work helps our healthcare clients provide medical services for uninsured patients, state-of-the-art care, and conduct ground-breaking medical research. Your work may support our mutual fund clients who analyze businesses from around the world and invest billions of dollars leveraging technologies that we support.

Founded in 1992, The Charlton Group is a privately held, managed services firm that offers day-to-day IT operations management, project planning and implementation, and disaster recovery assessments. We are vendor agnostic, giving us the freedom to match suitable technology products to our clients distinct business needs without compromise. Our high service level, professionalism and unbiased technical expertise are quantified by the fact that the businesses we service have been clients for an average of 10+ years. We have a tight knit team that work and play well together including fun during our company summer Olympics and annual team-building mystery trips.
